Who made this and why?
QuickBooks Connector by Meridian was made by Pilot, the accounting and software company behind the Meridian accounting platform at meridian.pilot.com. We wanted a straightforward way for accountants to use QuickBooks with the agents they already work in. It was useful to us, so we decided to share it.
What does this cost?
Nothing. QuickBooks Connector by Meridian is free to use.
Can I connect a QuickBooks company in a read-only way?
Yes. Choose read-only or read-write access separately for each company when you connect it. Reconnect a company to change its access level later.
Is it secure?
Pilot.com has handled sensitive accounting and tax data for thousands of businesses since 2017. QuickBooks Connector by Meridian uses Intuit’s authorization flow, encrypts stored QuickBooks credentials, never shares those credentials with your agent, and lets you disconnect a company at any time.
Do you store or look at accounting data?
We do not keep a copy of your books, look at your accounting data, or log QuickBooks records. The connector processes QuickBooks data only to answer your requests or perform changes you request, then sends the result to your AI service or QuickBooks account and does not retain the data.
Why not use Claude’s official Intuit integration?
The official connector for Claude isn’t powerful enough to do all the things we’ve wanted to have our agents do. In particular, it can’t read transaction-level details (it can only run reports), and it can’t create journal entries or arbitrary other objects.
Said another way, we think you get the most power from agents when the agents are able to do anything that a person can, and the official Intuit integration for Claude is too limited for us to find useful.
Why not use Intuit’s official MCP server?
For folks who aren’t afraid of developer tooling and are comfortable self-hosting, you should at least consider it. The two big advantages of this server versus the official MCP server are: (1) it’s hosted, so you don’t need to deal with installing it, upgrading it, or maintaining it, and (2) it allows you to connect to multiple QuickBooks accounts from the same instance of the server.
Can multiple people at my firm use this for the same clients?
Today, only one user can access a given client company; shared access to the same client is not supported yet. If your firm needs shared access, email qbo-mcp@pilot.com and we’ll be in touch.
Have a feature request or suggestion?
We’d love to hear it. Email qbo-mcp@pilot.com and tell us what would make QuickBooks Connector by Meridian more useful to you.
